Artist Emulation

This is my emulation of the cover of 'Surfing with the Alien' by Joe Satriani (image artwork by John Byrne). I used another existing comic book hero, The Rocketeer.  I tried using the same colour scheme as the original but after thinking it didn't work, I used a different set of complimentary colours instead.

After drawing the backgrounds and The Rocketeer, I cleared the background from it and then added the basic colour of my character.

I then added in the background colour.

And the other back ground colours.

This gave me an idea to where i wanted the light to come from, so I added the glow on the Rocketeer.

I decided that the glow was too bright so I dulled it.

I added the effects of an out of sight explosion to help with the effect of speed and movement in the picture.

I used the same yellow for the colour of the font as it works well and used a lighter purple for the drop shadow.
